Environmental Archaeology Project (EnvArch)

The Environmental Archaeology Project, was established to provide research support on the environmental archaeology of Anatolia using approaches such as zooarcheology, archaeobotany, anthracology, environmental modeling, and related specializations.

One of the first steps taken in this regard was the establishment of a laboratory at the Merkez Han equipped with 2 stereo-microscopes, 1 trinocular transmitted light microscope and various measuring instruments, where experts can work on environmental archaeology samples.

In addition to the Laboratory in Merkez Han and the modern reference collection sampling the flora and fauna of Anatolia, many people have participated in the online and hands-on training programs so far and received certificates.
