Transept-Planned Churches in Southwestern Anatolia

Dr. Erdoğan completed his bachelor’s degree at Ege University, Department of Art History (2010), and his master’s (2013) and doctorate (2018) degrees at Akdeniz University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Art History, and carried out a five-month library study as an Academic Visitor at Oxford University in 2021 for his postdoctoral research.

He has participated in excavations and surveys in various regions such as Ephesus, Alanya, Kadikalesi, Patara, Epiphaneia, and Antioch and has various publications on Late Antique and Byzantine archaeology. His project at ANAMED, “Transept-Planned Churches in Southwestern Anatolia,” will examine the architectural and possible liturgical functions of Early Byzantine transept-planned churches in Lycia, Pamphylia, Isauria, and Cilicia.
