Mr. Papaioannou is a PhD candidate in the Department of Language, Literature and Culture of Black Sea Countries at Democritus University of Thrace. He holds a MA in Methodology on Criticism and Publication of Historical Sources from Ionian University (Dissertation: “Questions about Education during the Greek Enlightenment. The correspondence of Dorotheos Voulismas with Zosima brothers 1799-1814”, 2016); and BA in History and Ethnology from Democritus University of Thrace (2009). His main interests lie in Greek Enlightenment; Communities, Institutions and Education of Greeks during the Ottoman rule; National Identities; and Greek Palaeography. The research he will conduct as an ANAMED fellow focuses on the archival sources related to the Phanariots in the Patriarchal Archive of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
