The Digital Future of Museums: Conservations and Provocations

The Digital Future of Museums: Conservations and Provocations
9 July 2024
18:00 - 20:00

ANAMED Library Talks continue on July 9 with Suse Anderson and Beyza Uzun Kutlay. The talk is entitled “The Digital Future of Museums: Conservations and Provocations”

Digital technology once seemed to promise museums the opportunity to democratize their work, making collections available to all. To what extent has this once-imagined future come true? In this talk, Suse Anderson will look back to the recent past in museums to consider how digital technology has created new opportunities for critical engagement, before asking where we might need to go next. How can museums make thoughtful, responsible choices about digital technology in an era of machine learning and artificial intelligence? What are the ethical considerations for museums as they choose how and where to participate in a world increasingly defined by networked technologies? Beyza Uzun Kutlay will be the moderator of the talk. This month’s talk will be online.
