ANAMED Library Talks continue on August 6 with Ayşe Taşkent, Nicole Kançal-Ferrari and Hatice Aynur. The talk is entitled “Osmanlı Kültür Ortamında Miraç ve Yolculuk Durakları”.

The miracle of Miraç, one of the most important events in Islamic history; It has been the subject of religious, mystical and philosophical thought for centuries, and a rich accumulation of knowledge has emerged in literature, music and book arts. Mecca, Jerusalem and Medina, which are considered the three holy cities of the Islamic world, strengthened their central positions by being the venue for the Miraj. In this speech, which focuses on the position of Miraç and these sacred places in different artistic productions and the multi-layered universe of meanings revealed, it will be evaluated how the cultural accumulation in question was processed and related to each other in the disciplines of literature, music and visual arts, especially in the Ottoman cultural environment. The talk will be moderated by Hatice Aynur.
