The first of the series, focused on ‘Textile Conservation’ and held on September 26–27, 2024, will bring together and discuss theoretical and practical knowledge, experience and innovative approaches in the field with the participation of expert conservators and academicians from institutions worldwide. The symposium would broadly fall under the following thematic threads:

  • Changing Needs and Transformation
  • Display and Storage
  • Case Studies
  • Multidisciplinary Approaches

The presentations will be in English and Turkish, and simultaneous translation will be provided for both languages.

The symposium, organized by the Sadberk Hanım Museum with the valuable contributions of the Vehbi Koç Foundation, will take place in the ANAMED Auditorium and is open to general participation. Registration is free of charge and required to participate in the symposium.

INTERNATIONAL SADBERK HANIM MUSEUM SYMPOSIUM

The Sadberk Hanım Museum, a prestigious and well-established institution with influence in both national and international academia and museology, will enrich its academic activities with a biennial international symposium series; The International Sadberk Hanım Museum Symposium. This series aims to provide a platform for discussion on various disciplines related to museum studies, such as conservation, art history, archaeology, curatorial studies, digitalisation, architecture, and exhibition design within a scientific framework. The symposium’s goal is to promote sustainable, dialogue-based learning opportunities in museology and foster interdisciplinary information sharing and interaction to contribute to the field’s development. Additionally, the series will facilitate discussions, ideas, and projects addressing the current issues and future of museology and its collaborating disciplines.
