Çiğdem Yıldırım
Head of ANAMED Library

Çiğdem graduated from Istanbul University, Department of Information and Management and completed her master’s degree in Istanbul Studies at the same university. In her first years working at Koç University Suna Kıraç Library, she worked in the Cataloging department; later, she served as a Reference and Research Librarian for the College of Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities. She has organized numerous events, trainings, and presentations on collection development, research support, academic writing, and information literacy, e-resources, document delivery services, reference management tools, bibliometric analysis and reporting, and social media. She continues to work on developing policies, procedures, and services on open access publishing and open science in the Suna Kıraç Library Open Access Team. She is working on developing a RDM road map and data management plan to support faculty members in the research data management working group within the scope of the Koç University Digitalization Program and carries out activities on behalf of Koç University in the “Turkey Open Data and Research Data Task Force” sub-working group operating within the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). She started working as ANAMED Head Librarian in March 2022. In the BiblioPera: Beyoğlu Research Centers Network Project, of which ANAMED Library is a founding member, she contributes to union catalog improvement activities, as well as organizing library tours for both librarians and researchers in cooperation with 12 partner academic institutions.

İrem Ünal
ANAMED-NIT Branch Librarian

İrem Ünal graduated from Marmara University, Information and Document Management in 2013. During her university education, she worked at the Information Management Club and organized various events there. After graduation, she worked as a librarian in many places, including Portakal Culture and Art House and Istanbul Culture and Art Foundation. Since 2016, she has been working as a Branch Librarian at the ANAMED Library, which is affiliated with Koç University Suna Kıraç Library. She has made presentations on different areas of librarianship at various symposiums and conferences, especially at the University and Research Librarianship Association (UNAK). Between 2021 and 2023, she took part in the Board of Directors of the Turkish Librarians Association Istanbul Branch and served as Treasurer. In 2020, she became one of the founders and co-founders of the podcast called “ANAMED Library Podcast: Burada Konuşmak Serbest,” which she co-hosted with N. Defne Gier. She is continuing her master’s degree at Marmara University’s Information and Document Management department.

Samet Emre
ANAMED Branch Librarian

Samet Emre graduated from Hacettepe University’s Department of Information Management and completed the double major program in the Department of Economics. During his university education, he served as the editor of the Board of Directors of the Information Society for 2 years, and, together with the Information Society, he established libraries in disadvantaged locations and regions all over Türkiye. Emre started his professional life at Bilkent University’s Library Acquisitions Department and continued to work in the Electronic Resource Management and User and Access Services Departments for 2 years. During this period, he also served as the faculty librarian in charge of Bilkent University’s Faculty of Humanities and Letters. Emre is continuing his master’s degree at Hacettepe University’s Department of Information Management, focusing on the economic analysis of libraries. Emre also published his book titled “Reading Culture Bibliography” in 2022, as a result of a 2-year research project compiling all articles, books, and theses written in Turkey since 1970, with his professor and friends, in order to support researchers working in the field of reading culture. Emre, who started working at Koç University’s Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) Library in 2023, provides information services to ANAMED researchers and special members as the branch librarian.
