Robert G. Ousterhout (16 January 1950 – 23 April 2023)
We are deeply saddened by the recent death of Robert Ousterhout, Prof. Emeritus of History of Art at the University of Pennsylvania, a field-defining scholar of Byzantine studies. Prof. Ousterhout was a treasured member of the extended ANAMED family. He gave generously of his effort, expertise, and time in support of ANAMED, serving as an esteemed member on its first international Advisory Board for six years, helping to establish its Cappadocia in Context Summer Program and co-leading it for many years, giving numerous keynote lectures, contributing to many publications, and more. We offer our sincerest condolences at this time to his family and friends as well as to the global community of Byzantine scholars and students, at large, who will surely miss him as much as we do.
