Research Title: Prosopographia Ponti Euxini. Byzantion. I. The epigraphic sources

Dr. Pázsint is an early career researcher at the Babeș-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) and her main research interests revolve around ancient social history, Black Sea studies, prosopography, and digital classics. After completing her PhD thesis (2019) on the associative phenomenon from the Greek poleis of the Black Sea, she started focusing on prosopographical research. In this respect she initiated a long-term research project which intends to achieve prosopographical studies for each Greek polis from the Black Sea and the Propontis. Her approach to the topic is twofold: while on the one hand she focuses on traditional prosopographical reconstructions, on the other she also contextualizes the data from a social history perspective, using also modern tools and methodologies (the population database Romans1by1, Social Network Analysis, etc.). During her stay at ANAMED she is working on this larger project, tackling the epigraphic evidence corresponding to Byzantion, with the intention of shedding light on Byzantion’s society and the interconnectivity of Byzantion’s population beyond the familial appurtenance.
