ANAMED and NIT Libraries Updated Rules

ANAMED and NIT Libraries are open only for users who have submited the ANAMED and NIT Libraries Joint Membership Form and received membership approval.

The library is open to users only by appointment. Users who have renewed and confirmed their membership could forward their appointment requests to the library managers by submitting the ANAMED and NIT Library Usage Appointment Form. The users whose appointment request is approved will be informed by an e-mail from the library. Users who do not have a confirmation e-mail will not be accepted to the premises. Appointment requests are confirmed within one or two days at the latest, depending on the seating capacity available.

At the enterance of the ANAMED building, all users will have to provide HES codes, as well as their vaccination cards, or, alternatively, negative PCR test results from the last 72 hours. Users must be fully vaccinated (at least 14 days must have passed from their second dose) or have a negative PCR-test result. Users who fail to meet these requirements will not be admitted to the library, even if they have an approved appointment. Members are obliged to submit their membership card to the building’s information desk every time they enter the Library through the control of Merkez Han’s security procedures. The membership card is for personal use. It is forbidden to be used by someone else. In this case, the membership will be canceled. Members cannot bring occasional guests to the Library.

ANAMED and NIT Members may use the ANAMED Library Block A and NIT Library as a working area. B Block study area is reserved for Koç University members.

Users are expected to discard all protective materials used for precautionary purposes against COVID-19 in the ‘Other Waste Bin’. (The waste bins are at the entrance of the stairs going down to ANAMED A Block.)

Library staff will receive only one person at a given time at the Reference desk, so as to maintain social distance.

The windows in the Block A section will be kept open at least for 5 minutes per hour for better air circulation in the ANAMED Library. An air cleaning machine has been commissioned for air circulation in the NIT Library

Fines & Fees

The fine for overdue materials is 1.25 TL per item per day. Any items returned after the grace period will receive fines for the entire overdue period, including the grade period. For example, an item that is four days overdue will thus be subject to a 5 TL fine.

For DVDs borrowed from the Suna Kıraç Library, the fine is 2.50 TL per day. There is no grace period for these items.

Any loss or damage must be reported by e-mail to anamedLibrary@ku.edu.tr or by telephone at 0-212-393-6061. Users are charged the market value of the item, the 32.50 TL replacement fee, plus any overdue fines already incurred.

Renewals

Users may renew up to the end of the overdue grace period any item that has not been subject to a hold/recall request from another user. Materials can be renewed online via My Account. Once signed in, click on the “Checked Out Items” icon for a list of all checked out items. Borrowers can renew all their items at the same time or check off whatever items they wish to renew at the moment.

Users may alternatively come to the Library to renew their materials. Items overdue past the grace period may only be renewed in person at the Reference Desk.

Holds / Recalls

Koç University members, except for DVD/VCDs, are eligible to place recall material currently checked out by other users. The current borrower must return the material within 72 hours. Materials brought back after this period subject to a 2.50 TL fine per day. The user who places the hold will receive an e-mail notification once the item has been returned and is available for checkout. The user recalling the item can find their requested material at the Reference Desk, where it may be checked out. Recalled items cannot be renewed.

Users may request items from within the Library catalog – active only 1 month after the borrowing – by pressing the “Request” option, which can be found at the top of the item record. The requestor will then be asked to fill in a short recall request verification form.

Please note that the Library may use this recall request for any material for purposes of course reserve.
