Research Title: The Archaeology of Middle Byzantine Aphrodisias

Mr. Jeffery is studying for the PhD in Classical Archaeology at Lincoln College Oxford. His research interests lie in Middle Byzantine material culture, particularly in western Asia Minor, and his doctoral thesis concerns the archaeology of the settlement at Aphrodisias/Stauropolis during the period AD 800–1300. While at ANAMED, he will be completing this project with the aim of preparing a monograph for publication. His background is in the classical world, having read Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Wadham College Oxford before moving the short distance to Balliol College for an MSt in Classical Archaeology. He has been the recipient of the Mica and Ahmet Ertegün Graduate Scholarship in the Humanities, and currently holds the Shuffrey Scholarship in Architectural History.
