Research Title: Holy Men and Women in the Late Medieval Balkans, ca. 1300–1500
Dr. Ivanova is a cultural and intellectual historian of Byzantium and Central and Eastern Europe. She is particularly interested in written culture, literacy, multi-lingualism, and cultural transmission across languages and political contexts. At ANAMED she is focusing on one particular genre, hagiography, and how its production sought to mobilise communities in the Late Medieval Balkans.
