Mr. Haines is a PhD candidate at the University of Washington, Seattle. His research interests center on the social history of rural communities in the 9th and 10th centuries CE as told through Syriac and Armenian writings, especially East Syrian monastic histories. While at ANAMED, he is working on research for his dissertation and integrating his sources into the broader history of the region.
