ANAMED Library Talks: Sinan Kaya, Senem Acar – Hüseyin Hilmi Pasha from Yemen to Vienna Through Evrak-ı Metrukesi (1899-1917)



The “ANAMED Library Talks” organized jointly by the Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) Library and the History Foundation (Tarih Vakfı) continue with Sinan Kaya on July 6, 2021.  The talk will present Hüseyin Hilmi Pasha’s political career with the data provided by the Hüseyin Hilmi Pasha Archive, which was opened to access by Koç University Suna Kıraç Library Digital Collections in 2020.  The political and social events that Hüseyin Hilmi Pasha experienced during his governorship of Yemen, his activities as Inspector of Macedonia, and his observations during the March 31 Incident, will be presented through his perspective.  In addition, information about Hüseyin Hilmi Pasha’s social environment and economic situation will be given through the note/account book he kept while serving at the Vienna Embassy.  In the last part of the talk, there will be a discussion on how personal archives can change our perception of history.  The talk will be moderated by Senem Acar.  For details please click here
